1. Who we are
Ground Truth ("we", "us", "our") is a property intelligence platform that aggregates publicly available data to help users research locations across the UK, US, France, and Canada. Our website is ground-truth.co.
2. What data we collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to provide our service:
- Email address — when you sign in via magic link or Google OAuth, so we can authenticate you and manage your account.
- Search queries — postcodes and addresses you search, processed in real-time to generate reports. We do not store your search history.
- Payment data — if you purchase a premium plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID but never your card details.
- Usage analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (page views, referrals, device type). This data is anonymised.
3. How we use your data
- To authenticate you and maintain your session
- To check your subscription status and deliver premium features
- To send transactional emails (magic login links only — we do not send marketing emails)
- To improve the service based on aggregated, anonymised usage data
4. Data storage and security
Your email and subscription data are stored in Google Sheets (as our database) and Stripe (for payment records). Session tokens are stored on our server and expire after 30 days. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Stripe — payment processing (Stripe Privacy Policy)
- Google OAuth — sign-in authentication (Google Privacy Policy)
- Resend — magic link email delivery (Resend Privacy Policy)
- Google Analytics — anonymised usage analytics
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI-powered report synthesis (your search queries are sent to generate reports but are not stored by the AI provider)
6. Cookies
We use minimal cookies: a session token stored in your browser's localStorage for authentication, and Google Analytics cookies for anonymised usage tracking. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Your rights
You can:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Log out at any time, which destroys your session token
To exercise these rights, contact us.
8. Data retention
We retain your email and subscription data for as long as your account is active. Session tokens expire after 30 days of inactivity. If you request account deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the website. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
